Word of the Week: Benthos

Benthos is a word defined as the flora and fauna on the bottom of the sea. It originates from the greek benthos (of the sea). The time period it originated from 1890-1895. Benthos isn’t just limited to flora, it can also be animals. The word is mainly used for Ecology so it’s a fairly common used word. If you plan on studying the sea, you might want to take note of this word.
