Each year at Modesto High, there are 2 events which lead up to the homecoming game: hallway decorations and floats. Every day of the week leading up to the game, each class organizes a hallway based on their particular theme, and then they each present a float and a skit based around the same theme between the Junior Varsity and Varsity games.  This year the overarching theme for all four classes was video games and the theme of the Junior class, was sonic.

The Junior class hallway took many hours of work on weekends and after school, culminating in wall decorations which were painted like scenes from the game, a wall of golden rings containing each of the Junior basketball players names, a mini Sonic Drive-In, a projection of the Sonic game, a spirit section, and a large, golden trophy as the centerpiece.

After the hallway on Thursday the Juniors presented their float and accompanying skit on Friday night. The skit was a dance done to the song “Supersonic” and the coordinating float was a Sonic race car. Each float was created around a shopping cart in two hours, which proved to be a challenge when making the race car, but the results were satisfactory. The Juniors, overall, had much to be proud of this homecoming. The leadership class put in hours and hours of work and by the end of it they had culminated into a great experience for their school.
