Staying Healthy

By Sarah Rinne, Reporter

As the seasons are changing, and the weather is getting colder more and more people are getting sick. Here are a few things you can do to try and prevent an illness coming your way.

Cover Your Mouth:

One of the most important things to do is to make sure to cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing. Also, make sure others around you are doing the same.  Many types of viruses can be passed one from one person to another through coughs and sneezes. When someone covers their mouth, they are being considerate to those around them. Remember to DAB (Destroy All Bacteria)!

Wash Your Hands:

There are all sorts of germs and bacteria that get on your hands every day. If you have germs on your hands, and you touch near your eyes, nose, and mouth, you can get sick. Many germs are not visible, so you should constantly be washing your hands every day.

Get a Flu Shot:

CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) recommends that everyone get their flu shots by the end of October, before a flu spreads in their community. In the United States, this time of the year is called “flu-season” because of the very large amount of people that get ill. Flu shots limit the illnesses that you can get which can reduce doctor visits and time spent away from school and work. Image result for flu shots

Especially during the colder times, it is a great idea to do whatever you can to stay healthy and away from illnesses. Remember to DAB, wash your hands, and get your flu shot!
