UC Applications

By Matthew, Reporter

Are you ready? Probably not, but it’s time for UC applications! Just like with FAFSA and CSU applications, it’s that time of year again. Time for rejection and intense burning of what little time you have to prepare for a new environment and a new community. Before we start talking about the applications, let’s address the elephant in the room: What is a UC? If you don’t know what a UC is, you probably shouldn’t be applying, but a UC is a university of California. They’re typically harder to get into than other universities, but that doesn’t stop people from applying. Now, time for what you’re here for, the rudiments of applying. Firstly, you must have completed all your a-g requirements with a C or above (plus what they recommend so you’re more likely to be accepted). Secondly, no D or F and you must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Finally, you must meet the UC requirements for the SAT and ACT scores. You must also take the ACT and SAT with the essay section and they’ll focus on the highest scores. The scores may vary between some of the UC but you can expect to score at least above the 75th percentile (according to some UC students’ Q&As).
